President Milanović Views Exhibition at 37th Youth Salon – President of the Republic of Croatia

The President of the Republic Zoran Milanović visited the main exhibition at the 37th Youth Salon, entitled “Pao sat u bunar” [Time Fell Down the Well], which opened on 25 April 2024, at the Home of Croatian Artists in the Meštrović Pavilion.

The Youth Salon is a biennial event and the largest national exhibition for visual artists under the age of 35. This year’s 37th edition is organized by the Croatian Society of Fine Artists and is held under the auspices of President Milanović.

Accompanied by Josip Zanki, Vice-President of the Croatian Society of Fine Artists, Ivana Andabak, Director of the Croatian Society of Fine Artists, and under the expert guidance of curator Lovro Japundžić, President Milanović viewed the works of 31 artists who responded to the theme of the competition. According to Japundžić, the exhibition explores the possibilities that arise from non-conformity to the normative course of time, utilizing all the spaces in the Meštrović Pavilion and showcasing many new artistic talents.

This year’s Youth Salon extends beyond the Meštrović Pavilion, featuring parallel exhibitions at various city locations.

Over its 50-year history, the Salon has presented more than 3,500 artists, consistently introducing new names to the Croatian art scene. In addition to showcasing the latest artistic practices, the Salon has awarded prizes to the most outstanding works, highlighting emerging artists whose work is worth following in the future.
