Garcia of Sancti Spíritus.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the visual artist explained his work is titled ¨Roofs of yesteryear¨, made in acrylic on canvas, while this Art and City project aims to link art, the city, nature and the culture of our country.

“It is a tribute to my Sancti Spíritus –the fourth town founded in 1514– and to colonial Cuba and I try to capture fragments of roofs and other architectural elements of the time, with sienna and ocher tones, and a defined structure in the drawing,” said.

He added that the piece created aims to “develop a theme with abstract-figurative features as an essential base and with a dramatic-pictorial sense.”

With this collective exhibition, the 504th anniversary of the founding of the former town of San Cristóbal de La Habana and the 15th anniversary of the creation of the Network of Offices of the Historian and Conservator of the heritage cities of Cuba are celebrated, he highlighted.

He thanked the Office of the Conservator of the City of Sancti Spíritus for the invitation to participate in this traveling exhibition, which according to him would leave the capital for the remaining heritage cities.

Sancti Spíritus will arrive in June of next year at the 510th anniversary of its foundation and Trinidad –Cultural Heritage of Humanity– will precede it in the same celebrations in January 2024, as it is the third of the first seven towns established in Cuba by the Spanish.

The Network of Offices of the Historian and Conservator of the Heritage Cities of Cuba is made up of 15 cities, including Havana, Bayamo, Baracoa, Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Gibara, Sancti Spíritus and Remedios.
