ODL Inc. in Zeeland, a supplier of household glass doors, windows, and other products located southwest of Grand Rapids, has invested in a state-of-the-art glass tempering oven at its Zeeland manufacturing facility. The amount of the investment was not revealed.

By tempering glass in-house, ODL says it aims to reduce waste, increase speed to market, and provide a higher level of service to customers.

The investment is expected to enable greater flexibility and stability in production, allowing for on-demand glass manufacturing rather than relying on a broad inventory of pre-tempered sizes.

Additionally, by reducing reliance on third-party vendors, the company is streamlining its supply chain, enhancing quality control, and improving response times.

“By increasing our in-house capabilities, we enhance our control over the final product and apply the standard of excellence our customers expect from ODL,” says George Rowader, executive vice president of Operations at ODL. “This investment will help us deliver the highest quality products with more efficient turnaround times.”

ODL was founded in 1945, is privately held and offers products under the following brands: ODL, Verre Select, and Robover. Products include fiberglass and steel entry doors, decorative and clear door glass; enclosed blinds; door glass frames; custom decorative glass for windows and doors; and clear I.G.s and glass for commercial applications.

The company’s manufacturing and distribution network, includes 12 locations located throughout the U.S., Canada, China, Mexico, and the U.K.
