Center for Rural Development to host reception for Wandering Artists March 2 | News

The Wandering Artists is a group of adventurous painters and sketchers who visit photogenic locations in the area to inspire their art.

During the last year, they have painted scenes from Downtown Somerset, Moody Farms, Burnett Farms, the backyard garden at the home of U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05), the Lake Cumberland Wildlife Refuge Home of Liberty Nature Center, and the Burkett homestead.

The Center for Rural Development is hosting a reception for the Wandering Artists on Saturday, March 2, from 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. to meet this talented group of artists and highlight their work on display in our newest art exhibit.

Members of the Wandering Artists will be at the reception for a meet-and-greet and share stories about their art. There is no charge to attend the reception, catered by Karen’s Catering, or view the exhibit.

The exhibit will feature a selection of their work inspired by the places they have visited in 2023 while painting “En plein air,” which simply means to paint outdoors.

The following artists are members of the Wandering Artists: Jackie Bales, Jamison Brumm, Susan Burkett, Cheryl Burnett, CeCe Butcher, Diana Colgate, Roni Gilpin, Linda Horn Gover, Janie Hail, Cindy Heideman, Joyce Ard, Liz Isaacs, Cindy Nave, Kasandra McNeil, Czarina Onishenko, Marci Randall, Debbie Rogers, Karen Roland, Henrietta Scott, Peggy Sherry, Cookie Thompson, Sharon Walker, Nina Wilhelm, and Rebecca Williams. New members are always welcome.

The art exhibit will be on display through April and may be viewed from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and during extended evening and weekend hours when The Center is open to the public.
