The producers of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass have shared the next round of artists performing at the 2024 edition of the free music festival, which returns to Golden Gate Park in San Francisco from Oct. 4 to 6.
The latest additions include Cat Power performing the songs of Bob Dylan, Cunningham Bird, Mavis Staples, Combo Tezeta, Wonder Women of Country, Steve Earle, Matt the Electrician, John Cooper Clarke, Carlene Carter, Jessica Pratt and Wreckless Strangers.
“I love Hardly Strictly—it’s one of our favorite places to play in the world. I can’t wait to get back there this fall,” Mavis Staples said in a news release.
The newly acts acts join Sleater-Kinney, Emmylou Harris, Sean McConnell, Levitation Room, Ibibio Sound Machine, Devendra Banhart, Robyn Hitchcock, Glen Hansard, AJ Lee & Blue Summit and several others announced previously.
In all, the free music festival with have more than 70 artists performing on six different stages.
Additional performers for the festival, in its 24th year, will be announced soon. Hardly Strictly Bluegrass was founded by the late Warren Hellman in 2001.
Hardly Strictly Bluegrass has also announced that proceeds from its “Out Of The Park” shows, evening concerts at venues throughout San Francisco, will go to Sweet Relief Bay Area Musicians Fund, which provides financial assistance to musicians and music industry workers. Its Bay Area Fund provides emergency financial assistance to those in San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, and Marin Counties.
These shows include Glen Hansard and Greensky Bluegrass at the Fillmore, Robyn Hitchcock, Fruition and The Bones of J.R. Jones at The Sweetwater in Mill Valley, Haley Heyndrickx at The Guild Theatre in Menlo Park, and Big Star’s Radio City 50th Anniversary at The Great American Music Hall. More will be announced soon.
