In St. Petersburg, youth music festival gives young artists the stage

Dozens of bands, all comprised of young musicians ages 14-20 brought the Summer Youth Music Festival on Saturday to the Factory, a creative artist compound in St. Petersburg.

The festival, presented by Cordero Music and Project No Labels, was created to give young artists a professional stage. The public was invited to enjoy their sound and shop from small local businesses.

“It is so important for our youth to feel like they are supported by our community,” said Cordero Music owner and founder Holly Cordero. “Creating performance opportunities like this help young musicians feel supported and encourages them to continue to pursue their passion. It also helps build stronger culture within the community.”

The festival brought together 45 bands in multiple genres including rock, indie, hip hop and disco funk. The entertainment lasted from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The musicians were able to experience a professional stage, sound and lighting.

Cordero Music seeks to break down barriers in the music industry by providing young musicians with lessons, quality instruments and performance showcases for industry officials.
