Visions of the Wild on Saturday announced the theme of its ninth annual festival and issued a call for local contributors and artists.

Visions of the Wild’s Re•Generation takes place Sept. 13 through 14 at various locations in downtown Vallejo. The festival is free and open to the public. As part of the festival, the Visions of the Wild committee is planning a community photography project and is seeking Solano County contributors.

Have you seen changes to the natural beauty of Solano County? Has your family lived in Vallejo or other parts of Solano County for generations? Contribute your “then and now” photos to this communal photography project. These photos should illustrate how an element of nature has changed significantly, for better or worse, over several decades.

Contributors can email their “then and now” photos in .jpeg format to info@visionsofthewild.org by July 31. Contributors should include their name, the approximate dates of both photos, the approximate location where the photos were taken, and a short story or description that might add context for both photos.

Visions of the Wild committee is also planning a juried art exhibition that aligns with the theme of Re•Generation. The committee is seeking  artists whose work celebrates the resilience of nature, and/or explores themes of environmental rebirth, renewal, and revitalization. Artists can submit photos of existing works or a draft of proposed new artwork. Artwork should be 8 feet or smaller. The chosen artworks will be shown at the Temple Art Lofts in downtown Vallejo, and the artists may choose whether or not to offer their works for sale (money from the sale goes directly back to the artist). Email artwork submissions to info@visionsofthewild.org by July 31.

A schedule of this year’s Visions of the Wild festival will be announced at a future date.
