Local artists invited to paint life-sized cows for CowParade, winners receive $1,000

SAN ANTONIO – It’s been more than two decades but the cows are back in town.

CowParade 2025 is back to support Christus Santa Rosa. Seventy-five life sized resin and fiberglass cows will stampede their way into the city.

Artists of all skill levels are asked to apply for a chance to paint a cow and have it displayed somewhere in the city.

The winning artists will each receive a $1,000 stipend for their time used to work on the cow upon approval. Winning artists will be notified and will receive their cows in mid-September. They will then have eight weeks to beef up their cows and transform them into works of art.

CowParade is looking for designs that celebrate San Antonio’s history and culture or a design you would like to create if you could only paint one cow.

Local contemporary artist Allison Gregory has been chosen to lead this year’s artists and will design one cow for auction. A few smaller cow sculptures (also known as Mini-Moos) will be completed by the patients at CHRISTUS Children’s and will be available for purchase.

Artists must download an application from anyartist.org, complete it, and email it to Laura Schleif at laura.schleif@christushealth.org by Sept. 6. For more information, visithttps://christuschildrensfoundation.org/cowparade/.
