Louisiana Children’s Museum Invites Artists to Apply for 2024-25 Artist in Residence Program

NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) is excited to announce the opening of applications for its 2024-25 Artist in Residence (AiR) program. This unique opportunity invites local visual artists, musicians, performers, and creators across all mediums to share their talents and engage with the community through creative and collaborative projects. Applications for the program must be submitted by Oct. 5.

To assist interested artists in preparing their applications, LCM will host an Information Night on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the museum’s Studio in the Park, located on the second floor (15 Henry Thomas Dr., New Orleans, LA 70124). The evening will feature an overview of the AiR program and the application process, insights from past residents, a tour of the facility, and a chance to enjoy refreshments while networking with fellow artists. This event is free of charge, but registration is required.

The AiR program is designed to integrate the artistic vision of residents with LCM’s educational and learning framework, allowing for a dynamic exchange of ideas and creativity between artists, children, and families. Selected artists will be given the opportunity to lead interactive sessions, workshops, and performances that inspire exploration, imagination, and a love for the arts.

“The Artist in Residence Program is an exciting opportunity for our community to engage with the arts in meaningful ways,” said Lauren “Lola” Hémard, Culture & Heritage director at Louisiana Children’s Museum. “By inviting artists to collaborate with us, we’re not only enriching the museum experience but also fostering creativity and imagination in children and families. We’re thrilled to see how these artists will bring their unique perspectives and talents to our dynamic learning environment.”

LCM’s Artist in Residence Program will host three artists over the 2024-25 season, with residencies available in Winter 2024-25, Spring 2025, and Summer 2025. Artists from all disciplines, including visual arts, textiles, music, dance, film, and more, are encouraged to apply.

Applicants are urged to carefully review the program’s guidelines before submitting their applications. Only submissions that adhere to these guidelines will be considered.
