NEA Grant awarded to 2024 Latino Arts Festival, call for artists announced

PARK CITY, Utah — The Arts Council of Park City & Summit County has announced its call for artists for the upcoming 2024 Latino Arts Festival, slated to take place from June 14-16 this year.

The celebration, which return to Canyons Village at Park City Mountain, promises to showcase the richness and diversity of Hispanic and Latino culture through various artistic expressions.

Last year’s event drew over 8,000 visitors. Artists from all corners of the Latino community are invited to participate, whether they hail from local neighborhoods or distant international locales. The festival offers a platform for artists to display their talents across a spectrum of mediums including fine art, jewelry, sculpture, craft, poetry, among others.

In recognition of its cultural significance, the 2024 Latino Arts Festival has attracted national attention, receiving an Arts Project Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD, and Chair of the NEA, expressed delight in supporting the festival, emphasizing its role in fostering artistic vitality within the community.

“The NEA is delighted to announce this grant to the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County, which is helping contribute to the strength and well-being of the arts sector and local community,” said Jackson. “We are pleased to be
able to support this community and help create an environment where all people have the opportunity to live artful lives.”

Accepted visual artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work in a dedicated 10×10 tented booth space throughout the three-day festival. To ensure a diverse array of artistic offerings, the Arts Council is actively seeking applicants who can contribute to the festival’s dynamic atmosphere. Artists selected to participate will also receive a $200 stipend to assist with travel and accommodation expenses.

Andrea Zavala, the Festival Manager, highlights the unique cultural fusion embodied by the event, stating, “The Latino Arts Festival in Park City is a unique blend of the city’s essence combined with arts and culture. The Festival attracts attendees from diverse backgrounds and generates a communal space for both emerging and established artists to come together and celebrate their passion – creating a more vibrant community.”

Applications from Latino visual artists will be accepted until 5 p.m. on April 1, and can be submitted online. Information is available in English and Spanish, with Portuguese translation available upon request. Stay tuned for updates on programming and the full festival schedule.
