Starkville’s young artists shine in SAAC’s recent showcase | News

The Starkville Area Arts Council hosted their Arts Partners after school program showcase on Thursday night.

The spotlight was on the young artists who participated in SAAC’s Art Partners after school program, a creative initiative that has been nurturing budding artists in the community.

Young artist Rylan Krampf enthusiastically shared information about his piece as well as his thoughts on the program.

“My art has Pokemon on it,” said Rylan. “They’re battling each other…Everyone knows Pikachu and they don’t know other Pokemon and that was how it was with me.”

Rylan’s painting was a watercolor work that featured characters from the popular Pokemon trading card franchise. His sister, Marlise, however, opted for a more traditional scene.

“My painting is of a chicken next to a tree,” explained Marlise, “and it’s got a cloud on one side and the sun on the other and I also did a flower.”
