Claudette Johnson leads the betting market to win this year’s Turner Prize
British visual artist Claudette Johnson is the early favourite with bookmakers to win this year’s Turner Prize with the shortlist confirmed for this year’s event.
Johnson is nominated for two exhibitions this year with Presence at The Courtauld Gallery, London, and Drawn Out at Ortuzar Projects, New York both Turner Prize nominees.
In Tate Britain’s announcement they highlight that the jury were, “struck by Johnson’s sensitive and dramatic use of line, colour, space and scale to express empathy and intimacy with her subjects.”
Betting odds for the 2024 Turner Prize now say there’s a 40% chance of Johnson winning the award this year ahead of the other three nominated artists.
