New documentary celebrates the Atlanta-born visual art and hip-hop roadshow Art, Beats and Lyrics – WABE

This year marks the 20th anniversary of “Art, Beats and Lyrics,” the traveling art and music exhibition celebrating Black art and hip-hop culture. The show is an Atlanta success story, founded by local artists and entrepreneurs Jabari Graham and Dwayne “Dubelyoo” Wright.

Now, a new documentary streaming on Hulu, titled “Art, Beats + Lyrics,” traces ABL’s phenomenal path from a small Little Five Points venue to national arena tours. The documentary’s director Bill Horace and “Art, Beats and Lyrics” co-founder Dwayne “Dubelyoo” Wright joined “City Lights” managing producer Kim Drobes to discuss the film.

When seeing the documentary for the first time, Wright said, “The moment it really hit was seeing it up on the movie screen that large, and you can feel that intense connection when it’s up on the big screen.”

Presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey, the Art, Beats and Lyrics 20th-anniversary tour is still underway. You can visit jackhoneyabl.com for upcoming city tour dates.
