South Bend’s Art Beat has it all


SOUTH BEND — Art Beat returns for its 21st year from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 10 along the Jefferson Boulevard Bridge and in the East Bank Village.

More than 700 visual, performing and culinary artists will take part in Art Beat 2024, making this one of the largest concentrations of artists in the region.

Visual artists will display and sell works in a variety of mediums, including watercolor, jewelry, printmaking, drawing, pottery, sculpture, photography and fiber arts.

The Fine Art Showcase returns for an eighth year. Located between Niles Avenue and Hill Street on Jefferson Boulevard, this juried showcase features 19 fine art visual artists.

Entertainment includes belly dancers, barbershop quartets, poetry, comedy and an open mic hosted by The Music Village. In addition, Downtown South Bend Inc. and Stockroom East on Jefferson Boulevard have partnered to present an indoor Art Beat stage for the first time since 2018.

KID BEAT! returns for its seventh year in the northeast corner of the Century Center parking lot. In partnership with the South Bend Museum of Art, KID BEAT! features booths containing artwork and activities by and for kids, face painters, and more. The museum galleries will be open to the public during Art Beat hours, as well.

The 2024 Community Art Project will give visitors the chance to create artwork on a new wind sock dancer, and the SBMA will oversee a relief printing project to promote of its new screen-printing classes.

The Culinary Arts Village returns for its 13th year, with a record number of vendors in a variety of cuisines. The Culinary Arts Village will be in Howard Park.

The Conscious Michiana Zen Zone returning for its third year, featuring mindful art activities, plus, Reiki, chair massages, Tarot readings and more.

There will be free all-day parking on downtown streets, Crowe parking lot, AM General parking lot, Peoplelink parking lot, Everwise lot, Zion lot, and in the garages at Main Street, Leighton Healthplex and Wayne Street.

Paid parking will be available in the Century Center parking lot.

Admission is free.
